3 Unsigned Artist Internet Stations You Should Know About

Ok, first - let me be fully transparent.  I'm somewhat involved with these stations.  No, I'm not directly paid or anything.  In fact, the stations are not even monetized.  They basically function just like a college/university radio station would.
Except it's for a place called the Ohio Center for Broadcasting.
When I say I'm "involved" - I mainly serve as a consultant to make sure these stations are doing everything in their power to nurture their respective music scenes.  Not just play unsigned music, but really dig in to the scene and raise awareness for indie music and alternative culture.
Here is what they can do for you:
  • Play your music
  • Book you for in-studio interviews or performances
  • Book you for television (live internet stream) performances
  • Remote broadcast from one of your shows
  • Help you spread the word about new projects
  • Video of shows, etc.
The list doesn't end there.  Because the stations are dedicated to training future broadcasters AND nurturing indie music - if you can dream up something that makes sense - they'll try and help you with it.
For example:  A local Columbus artist embarked on a 52 songs in 52 weeks writing journey.  He approached UndergroundColumbus.com with the idea of sitting in studio every Monday and talking about the new song and playing it for everyone.  They took him up on it.  And it was awesome.
Here are the stations.  Each one is a little unique.  But overall - they all have the same goals and feel.
They also all share the same music library.  So if you submit to MileHighUnderground.com in Denver, you'll be getting talked about and played in Columbus, OH and beyond.
There they are.  They won't make you famous or anything.  But they'll love you.  And they have a lot of tools at their disposal to help you.  I'm serious.  They'll treat you like gold and help you make a lil' noise in your city.  I promise.
Go upload your music and reach out to them to start a relationship.
p.s.  MileHighUnderground.com in Denver is having a launch party this Saturday, November 6th 2010.  GO HERE to RSVP and attend.  It'll be a great chance to meet the staff and network a bit.
